How to use the ear spray

Spray OtoCura® ear spray into the external auditory canal. The earwax is softened by the spray.

Softened ear wax can now drain out of the ear through the self-cleaning mechanism without additional rinsing.
The use of cotton buds to clean the ears is not recommended. They can compress the
earwax and push it even deeper into the ear canal to the eardrum or even injure it.
Functions of earwax
Cerumen (earwax) moisturises the ear canal and protects the acid mantle of the skin. It also protects against infections and transports deposits of dirt, dust, and dead skin cells outwards to the outer ear.
In this way, the ear cleans itself, so that a careful cleaning at the end of the ear canal at the pinna is
usually sufficient.
Hardened earwax, excessive wax formation or malfunctions of the self-cleaning mechanism can lead to a blockage of the ear canal (for example due to earwax plugs). This in turn can cause earache and hearing loss.
OtoCura® can soften the earwax and favour the normal self-cleaning. Otherwise, you can soften the
earwax blockage with Otocura® a few days before going to the doctor, so that professional cleaning
(e.g. ear irrigation) can be carried out more easily. If the earache persists over a longer period and/or is accompanied by other symptoms (e.g. fever, dizziness), please consult your doctor.
Effectively Relieve Ear Itching
Itching in the ear often occurs due to dry and irritated skin in the outer ear canal. Common causes include heated indoor air, frequent showering, or cleaning the ears with cotton swabs, which can disrupt the skin’s natural protective layer. Targeted ear care for dryness helps to moisturize the skin, soothe irritation, and sustainably reduce ear itching.
OtoCura is suitable for preventing and relieving skin irritations and itching in the outer ear canal. It should be applied as needed with 1–2 sprays. For regular cleaning and care, a general recommendation is to use it twice a week.

Protect Your Ears During Water Sports
Regular water activities such as swimming, diving, or surfing can dry out the skin in the ear canal, as water washes away the ears’ natural protective layer. Proper ear care after water sports helps the skin regenerate, protects against dryness, and prevents discomfort or itching in the ears. This keeps your ears well cared for even with frequent water exposure.
OtoCura® forms a protective film in the outer ear canal and is recommended as a preventive measure for water sports. It can be used both before and after swimming.

Ear Care for Hearing Aid Users
Wearing hearing aids can alter the environment in the outer ear canal and place additional strain on the skin. Heat, moisture, and reduced ventilation can promote dryness, skin irritation, or itching in the ear. Regular and gentle ear care supports skin health in the ear canal, helps maintain the natural protective barrier of the skin, and can prevent discomfort associated with wearing hearing aids.
OtoCura is suitable for the prevention and relief of skin irritation and itching in the outer ear canal caused by wearing hearing aids. Remove hearing aids, headphones, headsets, etc. before applying the ear spray, and do not reinsert or put them on immediately after application.

Gently Soften Earwax
Earwax plays an important protective role, but excessive buildup can harden and form an earwax plug. Softening earwax helps support its natural removal and effectively prevents the formation of earwax blockages. Regular, gentle ear care therefore contributes to long-term ear health.
Regular use of OtoCura® helps to loosen earwax and supports the ear’s natural self-cleaning process. The ear spray can also be used for several days prior to a doctor’s visit to facilitate subsequent professional cleaning, such as ear irrigation.
